3 councilors suspended

The Office of the Ombudsman meted three incumbent councilors of Bacolod City and four others suspensions of one month and one day without pay for simple neglect of duty in relation to an administrative complaint filed against them by former councilor Juan Ramon Guanzon on April 25, 2016.

Guanzonfiled a case of abuse of authority/and or ignorance of the law against former councilors JocelleBatapa-Sigue, Roberto Rojas, Archie Baribar, Alex Paglumotan and incumbent Councilors EmAng, Sonya Verdeflor and Wilson Gamboa Jr. for approving Barangay Tangub Resolution No. 16-103, series of 2016, authorizing the holding of cockfights on certain dates in violation of City Ordinance 506. . moremoremore

Bacolod expected to increase: consul

The Consul General of the Consulate of the Republic of Korea in Cebu said yesterday that many Korean students have chosen to study in Bacolod because it is a safe city and they expect their number to increase.

Consul General Oh Sung-yong said their consulate is focusing its attention on the safety of Korean residents in Bacolod.

Double pay for employees
working on Bonifacio Day

MANILA - The Department of Labor and Employment said that private sector employees who would report to work on Bonifacio Day, a regular holiday today, are entitled to receive 200 percent of their daily pay.

With this, the DOLE reminded private companies to strictly observe the pay rules under Labor Advisory 10, series of 2017, for the holiday, which are as follows: For those who will work during the regular holiday, he/she shall be paid 200 percent of his/her regular salary for that day for the first eight hours, or daily rate+COLAx200 percent;.
