An Army officer from Negros Occidental has joined the list of newly-promoted brigadier generals of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
He is Brig. Gen. Juvymax Uy, commander of the Army's 104th Infantry Brigade stationed in Basilan,who is a native of Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.
A member of the Philippine Military Academy Class 1989, Uy, who formerly served as commander of the AFP Civil Relation Service , among other military positions in Negros Occidental, is also the Joint Task Force Basilan commander.
Joint Task Force Basilan takes charge of the campaign against Abu Sayyaf bandits and other lawless groups in Basilan.
Other newly-promoted brigadier generals, who were previously assigned in Negros, are Franco NemesioGacal, former 11th Infantry Battalion commander, and Tyne Bañas, who used to be assigned at the 3rd Infantry Division in Jamindan, Capiz.
With their the rank now of brigadier generals, the newly-promoted Army officers are expected to occupy higher positions in the AFP soon.* GPB
