SSA elem. girls shuttlers
top NOPSSCEA Season 37

The St. Scholastica's Academy Bacolod elementary girls' badminton team is heading for the 2017 Negros Occidental Provincial Meet after winning the gold medal in NOPSSCEA Season 37.

The champion team, composed of Eyla Dilig, Jollyen Ylosorio, Juliana Millan, Elyza Yra, Mikee Carmona, and Daena Castro, swept the individual and team tie events to secure the championship for SSA.

It was an all-SSA final showdowin in elementary girls' individual singles with Castro taking the gold medal after beating teammate Millan. Dilig and Carmona, on the other hand, reigned in the doubles event.

Other NOPSSCEA badminton medalists from SSA this year are Christyn Therese Rosaida, Prenz Montealegre, Matthew Edemni, Nicole Perez, Ayl Diaresco, Shaun Fornis, Luis Sabig, Martina Carmona and Naomi Peña.

Rosadia, a silver medalist in the Palarong Pambansa, settled for another silver medal in high school girls' individual singles, while Montealegre and Edemni took the bronze medal in elementary boys' doubles.

Perez and Diaresco also got the bronze medal in high school girls' doubles a feat replicated by Fornis and Sabig in the high school boys' category.

Carmona and Naomi were second runner-up in the tertiary women team tie event.

The SSA badminton team is mentored by coaches Rondee Lumanog, Mark Joseph Silpao, and Precious Minie Ballenas.*NAB
