Last year's champion University of Saint La Salle will defend their title today in the high school volleyball boys finals after hitting a speed bump against Living Stones International School, at the West Negros University Covered Court.
La Salle's hope for a zero-loss champion title was tarnished after Living Stones outplayed them in a 5-set match last Wednesday.
The finals became a twice to beat match for Living Stones as the La Salle team had 7-0 record in this year's season of the Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports, Culture, Education Association meet.
USLS has been known as a volleyball powerhouse in NOPSSCEA after defending numerous championship trophies in this game.
This year, the team has already grabbed the champion's trophy in the aspiring boys category last Wednesday and third place in the girl's category.
La Salle's Institutional Varsity Sports Director Christian Fernandez said they conditioned their players for today's match that will be held 10 a.m.
Meanwhile, the NOPSSCEA college volleyball matches will be held at the USLS Covered Court next week.
Defending champion in this level are La Salle (men's category) and University of Negros Occidental Recoletos.
Fernandez also said their teams are doing their best to defend their wins in the previous NOPSSCEA seasons.
He also said that the high school boys and girls teams have also captured gold in the table tennis match of the competition.*MLG
