The municipality of EB Magalona in Negros Occidental appears to be getting the confidence of investors, with the numbers noted as slowly increasing this year.
Mayor Marvin Malacon said yesterday that the Lopez Sugar Central invested P23 million in the establishment of a transloading station along the national highway of Brgy. Santo Niño, and construction is now ongoing.
The convenience store 7 Eleven at the poblacion of EB Magalona is now almost complete, with an investment of P5 million to P7 million, Malacon said.
He also said that Star Cable television service will soon be up for availment by Saraviahanons, with an investment between P10 million to P15 million.
Food chain store Mang Inasal is also scouting for a possible area in EB Magalona, he added.
Malacon said he believes that EB Magalona is getting the attention of investors, because of its marked improvement in infrastructure, and stable peace and order, among others.
Korean K-One Corporation is also eyeing to put up a mini-hydro power project at the Malogo River in EB Magalona, he added.
“The mushrooming of investments in EB Magalona is a sign that we have started to gain the confidence of investors,” Malacon said.
The P100 million port in Brgy. Manta-angan, also in the town, the construction of which started two years ago, is expected to be operational soon.
Port developer, FF Cruz Co. Inc., is constructing the port that will connect Brgy. Manta-angan to the Bay-ang Port in Ajuy town in Iloilo.
Malacon said they will also hold another “seafood festival” next month, that will feature numerous blue crabs recipes, among other sea foods.
EB Magalona is known for its blue crabs.
To augment the income of vendors, Malacon said the municipality is holding “Sabado Nights” every Saturday of the month, as part of its Pasadya sa EB Magalona, that started early this month.
The Department of Trade and Industry has also put up its “Negosyo Center” in EB Magalona.*GPB
