on Mindanao martial law

Pacquiao supports Duterte

Philippine boxing icon Manny Pacquiao gave staunch support for President Rodrigo Duterte's martial law declaration yesterday, saying the country should be "grateful" for its strong leader.

siege evacuees sought

The Diocese of Dumaguete is appealing to the faithful to send in donations for the displaced residents of Marawi City amidst the ongoing war between government security forces and Muslim extremist groups, led by the Maute Group.

Dumaguete Bishop Julito Cortes asked the parish priests of the diocese to appeal to their parishioners for cash donations instead of goods as it is easier to send to Marawi Bishop Edwin Dela Peña.

On Sunday, Cortes led other parishes in their masses in asking for prayers for besieged Marawi and for Mindanao, which is now under martial rule following its declaration by President Rodrigo Duterte..
