CHR probes link of cops in
Vallehermoso ‘EJK'
BY JUDY F. PARTLOW

The Commission on Human Rights in Negros Oriental is conducting an investigation on a supposed extra-judicial killing incident in the northernmost town of Vallehermoso, allegedly perpetrated by five members of the town's police force.

CHR-Negros Oriental special investigator Jess Cañete said yesterday that one person was killed, another was wounded and is still in hospital, while two women survived the broad daylight shooting incident on January 17, 2017.

In a telephone interview, he said he took the affidavit of Jose Villarta Montemayor, the one who survived the shooting and who is still recuperating at the provincial hospital in Dumaguete City as slugs are still lodged in his groin..
