Truth will bear us out on non issues, Marañon says
BY CARLA GOMEZ
The Office of the Ombudsman for the Visayashas filed criminal and administrative charges against Negros Occidental Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. and 10 others, a document furnished the media by the staff of Moises Padilla Mayor Magdaleno Peña stated yesterday.
“I apparently cannot react to anything I have not seen nor received. If ever there is, indeed, this Ombudsman opinion or recommendation, my legal counsel will respond to it accordingly in the proper forum as it would be inimical to answer matters done through trial by publicity, which is what critics of my administration are very fond of doing,” the governor said in response.
In the end, the governor said he is confident that “the truth will bear us out from these non-issues. Our development initiatives at the Provincial government are meant to uplift the lives of marginal sectors, including farmers and other agricultural workers,” he added.
