Investments Board
convenes for summit

The Negros Occidental Investment Board met yesterday to tackle the planned Investment Summit of the province and related economic development activities, provincial consultant Rafael Coscolluela said yesterday.

Also raised at the meeting was the establishment of a 38-hectare economic zone near the Bacolod-Silay Airport, Roberto Montelibano, Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry president, said.

He said the final approval for itto become an economic zone is awaiting the signature of the president, and numerous investors have expressed interest in investing in the area.

Meanwhile, Coscolluela said the target date for the Economic Summit is in October or November.

“This is in relation to our campaign to promote investments and diversify the Negros economy, especially because of the challenges confronting the sugar industry,” he said.

On the call for boycott products of two beverage firms for their use of High Fructose Corn syrup, Coscolluela said, “We should avoid all products with HFCS.”*CPG
