Labor Undersecretary Dominador Say yesterday commended the outstanding taxpayers and employees of Bacolod City for their dedication and commitment in upholding honesty and integrity as responsible Filipino citizens.
“You serve as an inspiration to every Filipino to strive for betterment, and for us in government to ensure honest and prompt delivery of service to our people,” he said as he delivered the message of Labor Secretary Silvestr Bello lll during the recognition of the city's outstanding taxpayers and employees during the Commemoration of the 79th Year of the Signing of the Charter of Bacolod City at the Bacolod City Government Centeryesterday.

2 killed in shooting

A supervisor of a construction company and a rice field owner were killed in shooting incidents in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental, and Escalante City, Negros Occidental, Saturday.
Two riding-in-tandem suspects shot and killed Rey Anthony Gayo Sillero, 36, of Amihan in Brgy. Candau-ay, and an assistant supervisor of PhilSouth Construction, in Purok Saging, also of the barangay, in Dumaguete City.
Police investigation showed that the victim was on his way to work on board a motorcycle when the two suspects, who were in another motorcycle, overtook him, and one of them shot him in the back.
