City marks charter day,
honoring top Bacoleños

Development Bank of the Philippines chairman and former senator Alberto Romulo will be the guest of honor and speaker during the Ang Banwahanon Awards Night at the Bacolod City Government Center that will start at 6 p.m. today.

Romulo, former executive secretary, finance secretary, foreign affairs secretary, and budget secretary, was declared adopted son of Bacolod on April 4, 1990 for being “very responsive, receptive, accommodating, and facilitative to the needs of the people of Bacolod and Negros Occidental”.

Four Bacoleños are expected to become recipients of the Ang Banwahanon Award, which is a prestigious award given to citizens of Bacolod in recognition of their outstanding contribution to the city. moremoremore

The Commission on Elections has ordered the filing of a criminal case against three public school teachers for violation of the Omnibus Election Code in connection with the May 10, 2010 elections.

Carlo Gamban lost his mayoralty bid by 10 votes to Jose Montelibano in the 2010 polls.

PCG Dumaguete takes
lead in port security operations

The Philippine Coast Guard in Dumaguete City is now taking the lead in carrying out security measures at the city port, following the ongoing siege in Marawi City, and the imposition of martial law in Mindanao.

Lt. Junior Grade Donna Liza Ramacho, Dumaguete Coast Guard station commander, cited Department Order No. 2017-008 of the Department of Transportation, entitled “Control and Supervision of Ports and Ships' Security Operations by the Philippine Coast Guard”.

In an interview Thursday afternoon, Ramacho explained that the order, issued by DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade, authorizes the PCG, among others, to “supervise, regulate and control Port Police and private security guards, K9 entities, divers and underwater operations in all ports and related maritime facilities and infrastructures”..
