The Bacolod City Assessor is consulting stakeholders in preparation for the updating of the schedule of land valuation and real property in Bacolod City.
Bacolod City Assessor Maphilindo Polvora said yesterday he met with the representatives of the Chamber of Real Estate Builder's Association and Subdivision Housing Developers Association-Negros Occidental Chapters, Bacolod Real Estate Development Corporation and other stakeholders to present to them the new proposed rate for real property tax.
DepEd sets meet
on delay in classrooms

A meeting between Department of Education and Department of Public Works and Highways engineers will be held in Dumaguete City this month to find ways to hasten the completion of much-needed senior high school classrooms in the Negros Island Region, DepEd NIR Regional Director Gilbert Sadsad said yesterday.
Classes started Monday with senior high school classes having to be held in two shifts and in make-shift crowded classrooms because the DPWH failed to complete 500 of them in the Negros Island Region, and 360 in Bacolod City, DepEd officials said.

P188,000 in ‘shabu' seized

Joint anti-drug operations of the police and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency led to the seizure of about P188,700 worth of suspected shabu and dried marijuana leaves, and the arrest of three suspects in Amlan town and Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental, Monday.
The buy-bust operation in Sitio Pondol, Brgy. Jugno, Amlan, which was a joint operation of the Provincial Police Drug Enforcement Unit, PDEA and the town police, resulted in the arrest of Anthony Contad, alias Fausto, and Prince Shalom, both of the barangay.
