Ceneco to sue NGCP
for unused power bills

The Central Negros Electric Cooperative is planning to filea case before the court against the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines for making it pay forpower supply it has not used.

Ceneco general manager SulpicioLagarde Jr. said yesterday they are filing the case to protect the consumers from having to pay for this unused power supply being borne by electric cooperatives, particularly Ceneco.

This came after theNGCPrequired all electric cooperatives in Negros Island to implement manual load dropping (MLD) or rationing of power, after a 6.5 magnitude earthquake hit the Visayas Region on July 6 damaging power lines and power plants that resulted in widespread power outages in the islands of Leyte, Bohol, Cebu, and Negros. moremoremore

Briton, 3 more drown in Negros

The lifeless bodies of the teacher and the motorcycle driver, who were both reported missing on Friday, were found the next day at the Himogaan River in Sagay City in Negros Occidental.

Chief Inspector Robert Mansueto, Sagay City police officer-in-charge, yesterday said the body of Rona Beleganio, 23, was found at about 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Himogaan River in Brgy. Bato, Sagay City.

At about 4 p.m. of the same day, the lifeless body of motorcycle driver Clodualdo Abisamis, was also discovered floating in the same area, Mansueto said. moremoremore

Cock breeder shot dead

A breeder of fighting cocks was shot dead by two suspects riding in tandem on a motorcycle Saturday near the Dauin cockpit arena at Masaplod North in the town.

The victim was identified by the police as Arvin Cubalan, of legal age, from Daang Tattayan, Candayong-Calindagan in Dumaguete City.

Initial police investigation disclosed that at about 3 p.m. Saturday, the victim and his two companions identified as Guillermo Ayaay Moralio, 66, of West Poblacion, Bacong, and Anthony Namacpacan Beolanguiz, 47, of Dumaguete, were having a drinking spree at the stall owned by Daisy Alcoriza in Masaplod, Dauin..
