The allocation of P1.35 billion more for the north Negros alternative road is expected to further ease travel, Rep. Alfredo Abelardo Benitez (Neg. Occ., 3 rd District) said yesterday.
He said P350 million has been allocated for the lengthening and widening to four lanes of the Bacolod-Silay Airport Access Road this year.
About P1 billion more is also expected to be allocated in the 2018 budget for it to reach Victorias City, he added.
‘NIR can be 100% green by 2030'

National Renewable Energy Board chair Jose Layug said yesterday that the Negros Island Region can go 100 percent Renewable Energy by 2030 as indicated in its roadmap.
Layug, the keynote speaker at the Renewable Energy Summit atthe SMXConvention Center in Bacolod, lauded the Negros Island Region for being the model for RE development in the country.
“We are happy with Negros because of its various renewable energy, you have river hydro, solar and bio-mass as source of power”, he said, adding that NREB only has a 35 percent target for RE reliance in the country for 2030.

Nat'l Museum to help restore
Old Dumaguete Presidencia

Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo and the National Museum of the Philippines, represented by director Jeremy Barns, have signed a Deed of Usufruct to restore the Old Dumaguete Presidencia.
The P50-million restoration of the Old Dumaguete Presidencia, or the old city hall, will be up for bidding by the third quarter of this year. Hopefully, the project will commence before the year ends.
City Information officer Dems Rey Demecillo said the Old Presidencia, the city's seat of government during the Spanish era, comprises a small portion of the present city hall, with two levels and three windows only..
