All Philippine National Police anti-illegal drugs units in Negros Island Region have been disbanded, and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency is now taking the lead in the campaign versus illegal drugs, Chief Supt.   Renato Gumban , Negros Island Region police director, said yesterday.

Gumban said he, along with PNP regional directors from around the country, joined a command conference presided over by President Rodrigo Duterte at Malacañang Monday.

“We are just implementing the directive of the President,”Gumban said. moremoremore

MANILA - France won its first Miss Universe crown in 64 years yesterday in a made-for-television spectacle where finalists spoke out on the refugee crisis and other hot-button global issues.

Iris Mittenaere, a dental surgery student from Lille in the north of France, beat 85 of the world's most beautiful women at the event in the Philippines scheduled for primetime viewing in the United States.

Mittenaere, 24, edged out Miss Haiti, the first runner-up, and Miss Colombia, the second runner-up, to win France's first Miss Universe title since 1953. moremoremore

Negros PNP suspends
anti-drug operations

The Philippine National Police in Negros Oriental has suspended its anti-illegal drugs operations beginning yesterday, following a directive from higher authorities apparently in relation to the kidnap-slay of a South Korean national by “rogue policemen”.

Korean national Jee Ick-joo was reported to have been allegedly kidnapped by police personnel and later killed inside the national PNP headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City recently.

Senior Supt. Henry Biñas, acting provincial police director, said yesterday that effective immediately, his men will not be conducting police operations such as buy-busts and the service of search warrants against suspected drug personalities in the province...
