A Negros Occidental solon accused of four counts of murder and one count of frustrated murder before two San Carlos Regional Trial Courts has filed motions for judicial determination of probable cause, saying he is innocent of such crimes.

The motions seek to prove to the courts that there is no probable cause to back the criminal cases filed by the Ombudsman against Rep. Melecio Yap (Neg. Occ., 1 st District), and for any trial to proceed, his lawyer, Ariel Malunes, said yesterday.

Dumaguete on standby
for flashfloods: DRRMO

The Dumaguete City government yesterday appealed to residents living in flood-prone areas to continue monitoring weather advisories and notices from authorities to avert any untoward incident.

Jose Chu, head of the city's Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, said that rescue teams are on standby in case the heavy rains will cause two major rivers to swell and overflow.

On Monday, flashfloods at the Banica River and the Okoy River caused spillways to overflow, rendering them impassable. .
