Bacolod officials' stand
on redistricting sought

Bacolod Rep. Greg Gasataya has sought the position of the officials of Bacolod City on the proposed creation of a new legislative district in the city.

Gasataya filed House Bill No. 147 or “An Act Reapportioning the Lone Legislative District of the City of Bacolod and thereby Creating a New Legislative District from such Reapportionment.”

The bill seeks to create another legislative district in Bacolod City due to its consistently increasing population, and in pursuit of efficiency and effectiveness in the delivery of basic services and equal representation for the people of Bacolod, he said. moremoremore

Sugar Board tackles
HFCS regulation

The Sugar Board met yesterday to discuss the regulation of the massive entry of high fructose corn syrup into the country, Manuel Lamata, United Sugar Producers' Federation of the Philippines president, said.

On Thursday, President Rodrigo Dutertehad ordered the Sugar Regulatory Administration to regulate the entry of HFCS, Lamata said.

The Sugar Board met in Ormoc but SRA Administrator Anna Rosario Paner could not be reached for comment as of press time. moremoremore

Dumaguete one-way
traffic scheme starts

As the traffic problem in Dumaguete gets worse by the day, the city government will implement, starting today, its new one-way traffic scheme to determine whether this would help decongest the gridlock, especially in the downtown area.

Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo said yesterday that the dry run on the proposed traffic re-routing scheme is also part of the city's preparation for the upcoming bridge retro-fitting project in Dumaguete.

He said the city has to give way to the Department of Public Works and Highways for the bridge project and thus the need to re-route traffic in the city...
