A 46-year-old fish vendor and mother of four from Bacolod City was sentenced yesterday to life imprisonment for the sale of P300 worth of shabu.

Bacolod Regional Trial Court Branch 42 Executive Judge Raymond Joseph Javier, who found Marilyn Villanueva Tapalla guilty beyond reasonable doubt for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, sentenced her to life imprisonment and to pay a fine of P500,000.

dismissal order on 8

Eight present and former Bacolod City employees were served yesterday by the Department of Interior and Local Government the Ombudsman Joint Resolution dated Dec. 2, 2016 ordering their dismissal from service for their alleged involvement in the P50 million furniture and fixtures case in 2008.

The Ombudsman found former Bids and Awards chairman Goldwyn Nifras, former Budget Officer Luzviminda Treyes, BAC member Nelson Sedillo Sr., and former members of the Technical Working Group namely, Eduardo Ravena, Jaries Encabo, Belly Aguillon and Aladino Agbones, BAC Secretariat head Melvin Recabar., guilty of grave misconduct and gross neglect of duty for which they should be dismissed from the service. moremoremore

‘No cops in EJKs in NegOr'

Senior Supt. Henry Biñas, acting provincial director of Negros Oriental, reiterated that there are no police personnel involved in the so-called extrajudicial killings of suspected illegal drugs personalities in the province.

He said yesterday that in any organization, there are erring personnel that need to be reprimanded and given the appropriate sanctions but he has not received complaints or reports of his men allegedly involved in the killing of drug suspects.

He said a number of his men are being closely monitored and investigated for violations, from simple tardiness to more serious allegations, like alleged drug use...
