Bacolod SP approves P4.2 M
budget for 2018 Prov'l Meet

The Sangguniang Panlungsod of Bacolod City has approved the P4,211,500 budget for the participation of the Bacolod City Schools Division to the Negros Occidental Provincial Athletic Meet.

The request, submitted by Schools Division Superintendent Cynthia Demavivas through a proposed Memorandum of Agreement between the City of Bacolod and Department of Education, was approved by the City Council during its regular session on Nov. 29, 2017.

The Bacolod City Division holds the distinction as the champion of the 2 nd Negros Island Region Athletic Meet held in Dumaguete City this year.

With the dissolution of the NIR, the Bacolod Division, along with the nine other school divisions in the province will rejoin the Negros Occidental Provincial Meet that will open this Sunday at the Panaad Stadium.

Negros Occidental Negros Occidental DepEd Provincial Sports head Romeo Sison earlier said that several schools in Bacolod City will host the delegations from the other school divisions.

He said ocular inspection of the billeting areas was already conducted and the schools are ready to welcome the delegates.For the Dec. 10-15 Provincial Meet, Sision said the Pana-ad Stadium will be the main venue.

The opening ceremony on Sunday will start with the parade of the delegates around the stadium and with Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. and Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia as main speakers.

The mayors and other officials of the different cities and towns are also invited to attend the opening ceremony with the congressmen and the division heads tasked to raise their respective area banner, Sision said.

Winners in the provincial meet will represent Negros Occidental to the 2018 Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association (WVRAA) that will be held in Iloilo City on Feb. 4 to 8.*NAB
