PDEA: More
operations in Neg. Occ.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the Western Visayas plans to conduct more anti-drug operations in Negros Occidental so the public can feel their presence, its regional director, Wardley Getalla, said yesterday.

“We are targeting to add at least five more operations so Negros Occidental can feel the presence of the PDEA,” Getalla said.

He said they are facing difficulty since the PDEA has few personnel compared to the police.

This was after the lead in the drug operations was turned over to the PDEA from the Philippine National Police recently.

Getalla said they operate depending on the information they receive.

“If there are more information and informants, we can have many operations too,” Getalla said.

He said that if the PDEA did not operate in a certain municipality, it means are no information has been received from that area, or there are no drug pushers there.

Although the PDEA has less personnel in Western Visayas, Getalla said they are doing everything they can so drug pushers will be arrested.

The public may contact PDEA through itsBacolod or Negros Occidental hotline at 0942 4280 175, or their Iloilo office at 0929 3241 161.*SGG
