Joint development projects of Negros Occidental and Oriental will continue even with the abolition of the Negros Island Region, Undersecretary Adoracion Navarro of the National Economic and Development Authority assured yesterday.
Adoracion, who met with Negros Occidental provincial government and private sector stakeholders at Natures Village Resort in Talisay City, urged the creation of what she called the Alliance for Negros Island Development Agenda (ANIDA).
She said the ANIDA, which will pursue a common development agenda for Negros Island, should be private sector driven, and “government budget neutral”,or at no cost to the government, which would also make it less politicized.
Negrense journalist stabbed dead

Negrense veteran journalist and public relations man Joel Palacios was among five persons killed by a knife-wielding man who went berserk at a condominium building in Pasay City at about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The killer was later gunned down and killed by the police.

DepEd employee, farmer
shot dead in Guihulngan

An employee of the Department of Education in Guihulngan, and a farmer, were shot dead yesterday and Tuesday in the city.
Oscar Solania Asildo Jr., finance administrative assistant III of DepEd Guihulngan, and a resident of Sitio Bateria in Barangay Poblacion, in the city was shot dead by unidentified suspects on board a four-wheel vehicle, at about 11:28 a.m. yesterday, the police said.
