Dedales, of Brgy. Tayawan, Bayawan City in Negros Oriental, was the sixth Negrense soldier killed in Marawi City in the fighting between government forces and the ISIS-inspired Maute terrorist group, that is now on its third month since May 23.

The five other Negrense “heroes”, who were already laid to rest, included 2Lt. Macglen Abuyabor of Bais City, Negros Oriental, SSgt. Joseph Villanueva of La Castellana, PFC Ramonito Occena III of Sipalay City, Cpl. Ariel Arquio of Cauayan, and Corporal Arjhay Baroa of San Carlos City, all in Negros Occidental.

They were honored yesterday during the commemoration of National Heroes Day, with 124 other soldiers and policemen, who died in the fighting in Marawi.*GPB
