‘NIR abolition won't halt

Undersecretaries of two government agencies assured yesterdaythat sustainable development programs, especially for the rural areas will still continue despite the abolition of the Negros Island Region and they will not be left behind, especially in the proposal of the government to shift to Federalism.
“We should not feel sad about the abolition as sustainability programs are still there,” Department of Agriculture Undersecretary for Special Services RanibaiDilangalen said at a press conference held at the Nature's Village Resort inTalisay City, Negros Occidental yesterday.
President Rodrigo Duterte is concerned about every region in the country and rest assured NIR will not be left behind, Dilangalensaid, adding that,with the Federal form of government, rural development in the countryside will be prioritized, especially in Negros.
DAR satellite office
under close scrutiny

The proposal to make the Department of Agrarian Reform-Negros Island Region office a satellite office to continue land distribution in Negros is still subject to close scrutiny, DAR Undersecretary Rosalina Bistoyong said yesterday.
Bistoyong said in a press conference, that the proposal needs closer study and looked at in terms of viability.

Dumaguete City and Negros Oriental, along with the whole of the Visayas and Mindanao, are on alert against the entry of poultry products possibly contaminated with the avian influenza, that hit the province of Pampanga in Luzon.
But Negros Oriental Bureau of Animal Industry veterinary quarantine officer, Alfonzo Tundag, stressed that it is still safe to eat dressed chicken coming from Cebu and Bacolod, including Mindanao.
