City Hall employees hold
Basketball tourney at BAYS

The Bacolod City Government Employees' Basketball Association (BACGEBA) is staging its 13th Basketball Conference at the Bacolod Arts, Youth, and Sports (BAYS) Center.

Mayor EvelioLeonardia, who led the opening of the tournament Thursday, underscored the importance of taking a break after a hard day's work by relaxing through sports.

“I hope the basketball game here will improve your relationship and your camaraderie,” he told the employees. “How I wish I could play with you,” he added.

BACGEBA started its basketball tournaments in September 2009. Currently, 12 teams are competing in the league—10 of which are made up of Bacolod City employees, and the remaining two teams are from Davies Paint.

BACGEBA president ErryLagtapon, in his welcome remarks, encouraged the players to observe sportsmanship and to enjoy the game.

“Hopefully this conference will start a better tie-up and relationship between players,” he said.

Also gracing the opening games were Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran and Secretary to the Sanggunian Atty. Vicente Petierre III.*
