“The integration of our country together with nine other nations, will mean that our horizons will widen, the playing field will be expanded, and we will have a new political and economic order,” Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia said during the celebration of the 50 th founding anniversary of ASEAN in Bacolod City last night.

That, for sure, will bring about opportunities, as well as challenges for everyone, Leonardia said.

“So while we prepare our city for the future, and as we join the rest of the nation, we would like to see to it that the massive education,and information campaign is launched in our city,” he said. moremoremore

Aying urges Negros' NPA groups

A package of benefits being offered by President Rodrigo Dutertefor New People's Army groups or individuals in Negros Island who give up their armed struggle and return to the folds of the law, which includes free housing in resettlement villages and livelihood opportunities, is now available.

This was announced by Maj. Gen. Jon Aying, Army 3ID commander, at a press conference held at the provincial Capitol in Bacolod City yesterday.

Aying said the president is calling on NPA members or groups composed of entire platoons or front organizations to surrender and they will be provided with resettlement areas or villages, free house and lots with livelihood trainings for skills development. moremoremore

Female fire officer,
3 more nabbed in drug-busts: PNP

Anti-narcotics operatives arrested a female fire officer and a suspected drug personality during a buy-bust operation Monday night in Bais City, Negros Oriental.

A police report identified the suspects as Fire Officer 1 Antonieta Abrasaldo Catacutan, 52, married, and currently assigned at the Bais City Fire Station; and Francisco Javier Garzon, 42, single of Barangay Looc, Bais City.

The suspects were arrested at around 9:15 p.m. Monday in Barangay Looc by elements of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, the Provincial Intelligence Bureau of the Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office, and the Bais City Police Station.
