Cop under restriction
for shooting man dead

A policeman is now under restriction at a police station, after he figured in a fatal shooting incident yesterday in Brgy. Robles, La Castellana, Negros Occidental.

The victim, identified as Jered Labiga, 20, was shot twice by Police Officer 3 Jose Michael Muñez, a member of the La Castellana Police Station, initial investigations of the police showed.

Chief Inspector Gary Alan Resuma, La Castellana police chief, said yesterday that they also recovered a 22 caliber pistol from the sling bag of the victim. .moremoremore

PRO 18 chief denies favouritism
in campaign vs. illegal gambling

Chief Supt. Renato Gumban, police director of the Negros Island Region, strongly debunked claims yesterday of practicing “favoritism” in the campaign against illegal gambling.

4-lane diversion road to
be completed soon

A diversion road that connects the outskirts barangays of Junob, Cantil-e and Bajumpandan in Dumaguete City will soon be completed after two homeowners have finally agreed to cede a portion of their property in favor of the government.

The four-lane Junob-Cantil-e-Bajumpandan diversion road project, while operational already, met a snag in previous years after the homeowners had refused to set back their fences, thus posing a threat to road-users.

However, Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo has finally made arrangements with the homeowners, allowing the contractor, Phil South, to complete the said road, Dems Rey Demecillo, City Information officer, said Wednesday..
