1 killed, 3 injured

One person died and three others were injured in a collision between a wing van-type delivery truck of a beer company and a delivery van of a courier company at Burgos Extension in Barangay Estefania, Bacolod City, at about 3:15 p.m. yesterday.

Dennis Tambasen, 50, of Barangay Sum-ag, a reliever driver of the delivery van, died on the spot, Senior Insp. Elmer Bonilla, Police Station 4 chief, said yesterday.

Julio Ywayan, 50, of Sagay City, who sustained a minor injury, is now at the custodial facility of Station 4, while Rodel Ortega, 31, of Escalante City, in Negros Occidental and ArconePabon, 32, of Barangay 35 in Bacolod were brought to the Corazon LocsinMontelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, Bonilla said.

Traffic investigation showed that the delivery truck loaded with cases of beer, and driven by Ywayan, with Ortega as passenger, was travelling east of Burgos Extension when it collided with the delivery van, driven by Pabon with Tambasen as passenger, that was going west, Bonilla said.

Due to impact, the van moved going to the house. The content of the truck spilled on the road before it hit the nearby wall, he said.

Rescue personnel of the DYA and Bacolod Chamber Volunteer Fire Brigade responded to the scene. They had to use tools such as a hydraulic spreader, cutter and ram to removePabon, who was stuck in the van.

Investigations are ongoing on the traffic accident.*SGG
