Stakeholders meeting urged

Bukidnon Gov. Jose Ma ZubiriJr. is calling for a meeting of sugar industry stakeholders amid a two-pronged threat to the survival of the industry.

The sugar industry in Bukidnon, the second largest producer in the country after Negros, might collapse, he warned yesterday.

Broadcaster jailed
for wife's slay

A radio broadcaster is now in jail, after he was tagged as a suspect in the killing of his wife Wednesday night in Brgy. 2 Poblacion, Sagay City, Negros Occidental.

Chief Inspector Eduardo Corpuz, Sagay City police chief, yesterday identified the suspect as    Mhodee Andalina, a radio block timer of MBC Radyo Natin in northern Negros.

His wife, Virginia Andalena, 33, succumbed to a gunshot wound in her back. She was declared dead on arrival at the Lopez District Foundation Hospital in Sagay, Corpuz said. moremoremore

‘No mercy for cops
involved in drugs'

There will be no mercy for policemen involved in illegal drugs.

The stern warning was made yesterday by Chief Supt. Renato Gumban, Negros Island Region police director, as another policeman assigned at the Police Regional Office 18 headquarters tested positive for drug use.
