Duterte to lead opening
of MassKara Saturday

President Rodrigo Duterte will lead the opening of the 37th MassKara Festival in Bacolod City on Saturday.
Deputy Commissioner Jesus Clint Aranas, of the Bureau of Internal Revenue, in a phone interview with the media during a press conference of Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia yesterday, confirmed that the President will arrive in Bacolod.
“The President committed that he will be there (Bacolod) on October 1, from 4 to 7 p.m. You have to understand that he is (coming) all the way from Vietnam…from Vietnam he's going to go straight to Bacolod,” Aranas said.
There will be a unified mass oath-taking of more than 200 new Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan members from Negros Occidental and Bacolod City at L' Fisher Hotel in Bacolod City Friday.
To be inducted members of the ruling PDP Laban are 91 members of the United Negros Alliance, led by Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr., 60 Love Negros members of the group of Rep. Alfredo Abelardo Benitez (Neg. Occ., 3 rd District), and 12 from Bacolod City, led by Mayor Evelio Leonardia, PDP Laban Negros Island Region secretary general Yvez Akol said yesterday.
President Rodrigo Duterte, chairman of the PDP-Laban, will not be able to attend the mass oath-taking as he will be in Vietnam but he will be in Bacolod City on Saturday for the opening of the MassKara Festival, Akol said.

to get fiberglass boats
The fabrication of fiberglass bancas in Negros Oriental will start this week with the expected arrival from Cebu of materials to be used in the production.
The major components include chopped mat, resin or liquid plastics, hardener and aluminum rollers, among others. Evelyn Catanda, training assistant of the Regional Fisheries Training and Fisherfolk Coordination Center, under the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources in Region 7, arrived in the province yesterday with five other technicians.
