A fun wedding, part 2

It was just as fun the second time around.

Customs Operation Officer Hanz Christian Flynn Marañon and Avelyn Agudon Marañon, Negros Occidental Language and IT Center project development officer, celebrated the 11 th year of their marriage with a church wedding at the Triumph of the Holy Cross in Bacolod City recently, this time with their two sons.

Eleven years earlier, the happy-go-lucky couple accompanied by a small group of friends, tied the knot before Judge Demosthenes Magallanes in a wedding that was intimate and full of laughter.

The church wedding was officiated by Fathers Segundo Chua III, Richard Lachica and Francis Ledesma before a bigger group of family and friends, but was just as fun especially when the couple recited the vows they had written for each other.

“I have changed, you have changed and everything around us changed, but one thing has not…. my commitment exactly 11 years ago to love you, to give my best to you, to cherish and keep you no matter what,” Avelyn told Hanz.

Eleven years ago, Avelyn said she never imagined walking down the aisle 20 kilos heavier with Hanz and their sons, waiting for her at the altar.

Their son Christian Jude Marañon was the best man, while their son Thad Ymmanuel Marañon was the ring, coin and arrhae bearer.

Avelyn said Hanz has been her husband, lover, driver, technical assistant, production assistant, carpenter, and shock absorber, drawing laughter from the guests.

Hanz said “I never promised heaven. I never promised I will never make you cry. I'm a sinner but if I have committed sin I will make sure I will make it up to you.”

The parents of Hanz are Roque and Tessie Marañon, while Avelyn's parents are Herminio and Anita Agudon.

Their principal sponsors the second time around were lawyer Jose Valencia, Senior Supt. William Señoron, retired PNP Director Geary Barias, retired AFP Chief Victor Ibrado, Dr. Ernell Tumimbang, Dr. Joevy Tan, Dr. Sebastian Tabuga, former Board Member Enrique Miguel Lacson, Jose Naig, Benny Guillergan, retired PNP Director Charles Calima, retired Maj. Pablo Bearneza, Dr. Luisa Efren, La-arni Aguilar, Mita Chuvy Arguelles, Aniceta Billones, Ma. Lina Sanogal, Yolanda Yao, Hazel Merced, Margarita Marañon and Ramona Tabi.

The matrons of honor were Avelyn's sister Dorothy Agudon and best friend Lily Rose Pulgo.

The secondary sponsors were Julius and Hannah Mariveles for candle, Mark Anthony Kenn and Geryliza Marañon – veil, and Ernil and Cristina Orbecido – cord.

The bridesmaids were Mate Espina, Antonietta Lopez, Cely Trio, Bambina Palermo, Nanette Guadalquiver and Cheryl De Leon, and the groomsmen were Job Lopez, Levi Trio, Roel Venus, Samson Alonsagay, Police Insp. Elmer Bonilla and Bobby Fisher Geriane.

The flower girls were Zanelle Trio, Prexcy Denisse Agudon, Francesca Ella Ting, and Xabrina Domini Marañon.

At the reception at Nature's Village Resort, the couple kicked off the fun by dancing into the reception hall to the music “Uptown Funk” of Bruno Mars.*CPG
