NGCP SAYS
Lightning caused blackout

A blackout that hit Negros Occidental yesterday was triggered by lightning that caused the 138kV Mabinay- Kabankalan lines of the National Grid Corp of the Philippines to trip off, a press release from NGCP said.

The 138kV Mabinay- Kabankalan lines tripped off at 12:28 p.m. cutting off power to the Central Negros Electric Cooperative, Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative, and Northern Negros Electric Cooperative, NGCP said.

The 138kV Mabinay-Kabankalan line 1 was restored at 1:01 p.m., while the last 69kV feeder was energized at 1:44 p.m. , it added.

Meanwhile, Ceneco yesterday announced that its Collection Section at its Mabini Main Office will be open 8 a.m. to noon Monday, to accept payments for electricity bills.

Its Bago, Murcia, Talisay, and Silay Field Offices will be closed, in observance of Eid'lAdha (Feast of Sacrifice), a regular holiday under Proclamation No. 56, the Ceneco press release said.*
