Help sought in
fight vs. terrorism
BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

Acting Bacolod police director Senior Supt. Flynn Dongbo yesterday appealed for the help and cooperation of Bacoleños in the fight against terrorism following the bombing in Davao City that claimed the lives of 14 people.

Dongbo said they are beefing up their security, especially because many people are expected to come to Bacolod for the MassKara Festival in October.

They are on full alert status because, not only Bacolod may be under threat, but the whole country, he said, adding that they have deployed personnel in terminals, seaports, malls and other place of convergence.

They have also established several check points, so he is requesting the cooperation of the public, Dongbo said.

“Let us be vigilant and alert” he said although based on their intelligence report, there is no plot to bomb Bacolod.

Dongbo said people should be instrumental in reporting their observations about any suspicious activity or individual that may be of help to the police.

Meanwhile, Dongbo said they have made initial preparations for the MassKara Festival based on recent developments.

The Bacolod City Police Office has about 675 personnel and will need the help of force multipliers to maintain peace and order during the festivity, he added.*CGS
