JSY Transport routed AACI Trading, 96-75, while Royal Star Trading trounced AACI Transport, 83-71, to kick off their respective campaign in the Fil-Sino Basketball All Asia Countetrade Inc. 2nd conference Inter-Color Tournament Monday night at Bacolod Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gym.
Mark Binguan sizzled with six triples in the second quarter to give JSY Transport a commanding 54-32 halftime advantage with support from teammates Xerxes Jaranilla and Pao Pao Lim, who combined for 17 points.
Sustaining AACI Trading's offense after two quarters were Ritchie Militante, who tallied 9 points, and Clarence Quingco and Caesar Noble , who delivered 5 points each.
The lead ballooned to 64-34 for JSY's biggest lead in the game with 7 minutes left in the third quarter. However, Clarence Quingco and RJ Iligan hit back-to-back triple to jumpstart the AACI Trading comeback.
In the ensuing play, Ritchie Militante and Joel Masadia presided a furious rally that cut the lead to 67-65 in the fourth quarter with 5 minutes left in the game.
But JSY's long silence was broken by Joshua Co, who made 11 points in the final minutes as his floaters found their mark while Jaranilla sneaked in a few layup shots to bring the lead back to double digit and secure the opening day victory.
Binguan finished with 8 triples for 26 points while Co ended the game with 15 points and 4 assists. Lim dropped 15 points and 6 boards as Jaranilla made 13 points and 3 assists, Tubby Villanueva with 8 points and 4 assists, and Joshua Chua with 7 points, Johann Villaneva with 4 points5 rebounds and 2 assists.
Militante led ACCI Trading with 25 points, and 12 rebounds, Quingco produced 10 markers, Noble drilled in 9 points, Masadia and RJ Iligan shot 7 each and Brian Tan with 4 points.
In the second game Carlo Chu fired 14 points and Sean Wee added 9 to put Royal Star Trading on top at the break 41-34 . Newcomer Alexis Somo had 12 points for AACI Transport.
Michael Ang knocked down 3 triples to spearhead an AACI Transport rally but a balanced offense by Royal Star kept them on top at 59-53 going to the fourth quarter.
AACI Transport was able to hit 4 triples in the final minutes, but they had a hard time penetrating the zone defense of Royal Star while Chu, Ramon Khey and Wee combined for 18 points to seal the victory for Royal Star.
Chu paced Royal Star with 24 points and 5 assists while Wee finished with 17 points. Khey made 11, Chibon Uy added 9 points, Adonis Rosales shot 7 and Omar Galunan with 5 points and 8 rebounds.
Somo finished topscored for AACI Transport with 20 points and 2 steals, Michael Ang dropped 17 points, Dandan Ong scored10 and 14 boards, Johnnyson Yu and Jully Castillo had 4 points each.*
