Cops recover cache
of guns, ammunition

BY GILBERT BAYORAN

Troopers of the Regional Public Safety Battalion 18 yesterday seized a cache of high-powered firearms and ammunition from an arrested suspect in Santa Catalina, Negros Oriental.

Supt. Thomas Joseph Martir, officer-in-charge of RPSB 18, said the suspect he identified as Mario Sedon, 32, was complained of alleged land grabbing by farmers in the area.

Armed with a search warrant issued by Judge Mario Trinidad, troopers of the 3 rd Maneuver Company of RPSB 18, headed by Chief Inspector Jesus Mesahon Jr., swooped down on the house of Sedon in Sitio Buak Buntod, Barangay Nagbinlod, Santa Catalina.

The raid yielded a KG9 Miami FL 9mm Luger pistol, a KG9 Colt 9mm pistol with six magazines containing 59 ammunition, a .45 caliber Colt pistol with two magazines containing 21 live bullets, a 22 caliber Thomson firebird sub-machine gun, and a gun silencer.

Martir said they are still investigating if the arrested suspect is affiliated with a private armed group, considering that he possesses a cache of guns.

He added he has received reports that Sedon is also in possession of an expensive motorcycle.*GPB
