Class 2006-08 blows away 2010-12
to keep SJI Alumni basketball crown

Defending champion Class 2006-08, sponsored by Hamamoto Truck Sales /AX Currency, defended its SJI Alumni Basketball title with a masterful 86-70 win against Batch 2010-12 Masskara Chicken Inasal in the 7th Msgr. John Liu and Msgr. John Su Basketball Friendship Cup at the Msgr. John Liu Activity Center.

Most Valuable Player Brian Coo scored 20 points as he led four others AX Currency players in double figures with Alvin Dionela delivering 16 points, Dandan Ma with 15, Jeremy Coo adding 11 and Alan Po. Morales with 10 points.

Brian Coo and Danty Ma combined for 14 points as Hamamoto/AX took the lead in the first quarter as Allen Dionela had 10 points for Masskara Chicken Inasal.

Alvin Dionela and Bren Tajonera scored 9 and 5 points, respectively to extend the lead of Hamamoto /AX to 40-33 at halftime.

In the third quarter, Jeremy Coo starred for Hamamoto/AX as he carried the team to an 18-point lead against Masskara Chicken Inasal before Michael Herdon, Allen DIonela and Luigi Coo cut the deficit to 52-40 going to the fourth quarter.

Hamamoto/AX stepped up their intensity in the payoff quarter as Brian Coo dominated the rebounds from both ends of the court.

Backstopping Coo were teammates Alan Pol Morales and Ma who scored 7 points apiece, mostly on fast break layups and one-on-one plays.

Bren Tajonera added 7 points for the champion team.

The absence of Masskara Chicken leading scorer Sean Wee was felt in the payoff quarter as Masskara had a hard time penetrating the zone defense of AX and were forced to take a lot of outside shots that failed to find its mark.

Allen Dionela paced Masskara with 20 poins while Herdon added 14, Luigi Coo shot 9 points, Marcelino Tan and Joshua Co made contributed 6 points each and Zoey Pandan chipped in 4 points.*
