free charging stations

KEPCO SPC Power Corporation and Central Negros Electric Cooperative are providing free public charging stations in three festival sites in Bacolod City to keep cellphones, cameras and other electronic gadgets of revelers energized during the 37th MassKara Festival until the highlight tomorrow.

This is an extension of their services to the MassKara Festival through the initiative of KEPCO SDC, Ceneco general manager Sulpicio Lagarde Jr. said yesterday as he formally switched on the free charging station at the Bacolod City Government Center together with KEPCO SPC marketing manager Stella Yoo.

Lagarde said “We are fortunate that the leadership of KEPCO SDC was able to create this kind of assistance program for all those celebrating with us this MassKara but find their cellphones no longer powered up.”

Yoo said KEPCO SPC is the operator of the 2 x 100 megawatts coal-fired power plant in Cebu which supplies electricity to consumers in Bacolod City since 2011.KEPCO SPCis a partner of Ceneco in delivering reliable electricity.

The KEPCO power plant was initiated by Korea Electric Company in response to the Philippine government's request for assistance in addressing the looming power shortage in theVisayas region, she said.

Yoo said they are glad to have this activity in partnership with Ceneco in keeping Bacolod energized during the MassKara. One charging station can accommodate about 100 cellphones, she said.

Julius Christian Reyes, KEPCO SPC assistant marketing manager, thanked Ceneco for partnering with them. It is indeed an honor to provide services to the people of Bacolod especially during the MassKara Festival, he said.

The public can avail of the free charging stations at the government center, Development Bank of the Philippines at Lacson Street, and The Generics Pharmacy at the Bacolod Public Plaza (near Bac-up 1), he said. This is free of charge until Sunday, he added.

Roel Venus, Ceneco Consumer Integrated Services Division chief, said the manpower compliment will be provided by Ceneco. It is the Ceneco personnel who will watch the charging stations until Sunday.

KEPCO SPC might donate the charging stations to the city through Ceneco. It is the power firm that will identify the local governments who will be provided the facility, he said.
