Church tarp up on
‘real' Halloween

A giant tarpaulin bearing pictures of saints was mounted in front of the San Sebastian Cathedral in Bacolod City yesterday to remind the public about the real Halloween, Fr. Felix Pasquin said.

“Current practices are a mockery of Halloween's meaning which is All Holy,” Pasquin, rector of the Cathedral, said.

The message on tarpaulin says “Yes to the real Halloween. No to that of the devil's.”

Instead of teaching children to dress as goblins and witches, they should be reminded of saints since the Church celebrates on November 1 and 2 All Saints and All Souls days, Pasquin said.

“Let's promote an environment that is conducive to the growth of holiness as we are called by the Lord to be Holy. Let us not provide an environment where people, especially children, feel comfortable with the devil. Let's not allow the continuous mockery of God,” he said.*CPG
