NOPSSCEA men's basketball defending champion University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos will be joining the 21 st Philippine University Games that will open in Dumaguete City, Sunday.
UNO-R Rams head coach Gerome Aledron said the team is scheduled to leave this weekend in time for the opening ceremonies.
Aledron said that aside from their new recruit, Leonard Mustre, he is bringing to Dumaguete the same lineup that bagged the NOPSSCEA championship last year.
Mustre, the son of former PBA player Mike Mustre, is the only addition to the Rams this year and he will be playing alongside veterans Ritcher Santillan, Coleen Testa, Kim Dimaranan, Japet Claridad, Estefano Ayuco, Patrick Yulo, Gerard Dipol, Al john Catague, Lorenz Toral, Jun King Arriola, Carl John Mejica, Bill Prado, John Gil Aposaga, and Steven Enema.
UNO-R is the 13 th team to confirm its participation in men's basketball of the UNIGAMES this year.
The Rams will be battling for the title against fellow NOPSSCEA teams Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod and Colegio de Sta. Ana Victorias, Dumaguete's Asian College of Science and Technology, Foundation University, last year's runner up Hercor College (Roxas City), Holy Angels University (Pampanga), Holy Cross of Davao College, Jose Maria College (Davao), Rizal Technological Universities (Mandaluyong), University of Mindanao, University of San Agustin (Iloilo), and University of San Jose-Recoletos (Cebu).
The UNIGAMES tournament will also serve as tune-up games for the Rams as they prepare for their title retention bid in NOPSSCEA Season 36 men's basketball that will start on November 6 at the STI-WNU Gym.
