Help urged to boost IT industry

The Department of Information and Communications Technology Visayas chair Jocelle Batapa-Sigue called for collaboration to further strengthen the IT industry in Negros Occidental during the opening of the Cybercentre ICT Trade Expo and Conferences at the Negros First CyberCentre grounds in Bacolod City yesterday.

“This is the reason why we have this event and without the LGUs, NGOs, government agencies and private sectors, we cannot make Bacolod City and the province as one of the leading locations for IT and BPO industry,” Sigue said at the opening program.

She added that this is also a way of thanking the Negros Occidental provincial government under the administration of Gov. Alfredo Marañon, Jr. for the construction of the Negros First Cybercentre.

The exposition aims to showcase local products and services, highlighting achievements in the BPO and ICT industry.

“Bacolod City is one of the hall of famers for having driven jobs outside Metro Manila to the countryside,” she said.

At the opening ceremonies were Bacolod and Provincial Tourism officials, Bacolod City Councilor Em Ang, Board Member Alain Gatuslao, DTI-Province Head Lea Gonzales, some private sector representatives and the exhibitors in the trade expo.*MLG
