Lopue's Masskara Age-Grouptable
tennis tilt set Oct. 21-23

Pursuing his mission to cultivate table tennis talents from the grassroots, Leonito Lopue, founder of the Lopue's Table Tennis Association will be bankrolling the Lopue's Masskara Age Group Table Tennis Championship 2016 on Oct. 21 to 23 at the Lopue's San Sebastian Department Store, Annex Buildig in Bacolod City.

The tournament is an annual event organized by Lopue, the godfather of table tennis in the province, to give table tennis players the opportunity to see action in a high-level competition.

This year, participants will vie for the top honors in 10 categories, the 10 & under beginners boys and girls; 10 and under boys and girls; 13 and under boys and girls; men and women's open; and 50 and 60 above men's executive.

LCC, UNO-R cagers to
play in friendly game

La Consolacion College Bacolod Blue Panthers will play against NOPSSCEA men's basketball defending champion UNO-Recoletos Rams in a charity game at the Negros Occidental Multi-Purpose Activity Center 5 p.m. Friday.

Also scheduled to play is the LCC Bacolod high school varsity basketball team against St. John's Institute, and the LCC Alumni teams from the School of Architecture, Fine Arts and Interior Design and the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management.

The event is an initiative of the Blue Panthers to raise funds to support its continuing sports development programs.

Puentevella attends IWF
Congress in Malaysia

Global may be the newly-crowned United Football League (UFL) champion but on Sunday night, it was last year's winner Ceres-La Salle FC that showed its championship pedigree.

Ceres inched closer to a return to the AFC Cup after surprising Global, 5-0, in a pivotal match for the former champ at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.

Adrian Gallardo drew first blood for Ceres in the 38th minute, while Jeffrey Christaens doubled the lead five minutes later.
