Anna Balcells, the founder and president of Kalipay Negrense Foundation Inc., will be awarded as an Outstanding Negrense in the “Pasidungog sa mga Bag-o nga Baganihan” awarding ceremony during the Negros Day on November 5, at the Provincial Capitol social hall in Bacolod City.
Balcells will be recognized for her remarkable works and contribution in the field of Community Service, a press release from Kalipay said.
Four other awardees will also be honored.
Kalipay Negrense Foundation is a non-profit organization aimed at bringing joy to the disadvantaged children. It strives to provide the needs and protect the rights of disadvantaged children – the abandoned, neglected, physically and sexually abused, orphaned, malnourished, and victims of poverty, child labor, and trafficking, the press release said.
At present, Kalipay has 107 children in the two homes that Balcells and her team manage where they are given a safe, and loving environment that they deserve.
For almost 10 years, Kalipay has rescued more than 500 disadvantaged children in Negros Occidental and surrounding provinces. It continues to survive because of individuals and organizations willing to help the foundation.
Just recently, Kalipay has rescued three children abused by their father and a 10-day-old baby abandoned near a police station in Bacolod City.
