UNO-R, San Carlos win to jumpstart
U21 campaign in the DFL tournament

The University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos and San Carlos Under 21 booters registered their first win yesterday as the competition of different age groups of the Dynamic Football League 3 rd Conference started yesterday at the Sta. Maria Football Field in Talisay City and the Pana-ad Stadium in Bacolod City.

After a two-week layoff due to their academic commitments, the UNO-R team took time in shrugging off some rustiness before subduing Bago FC, 3-0.

In contrast, San Carlos went for an early attack for a 5-0 first half demolition of the Kabankalan FC.

Cap Boys bag BUS G title

A well-executed full-court press in the final two minutes allowed the Capitol Boys to complete a come-from-behind win and snatch the title against frontrunner Antones Lines, 87-83, in the 2016 Basketball Unified Sports Group Inter-Color Tournament Friday night at JGC Gym at Goldenfields Commercial Complex in Bacolod City.

Trailing by 11 points in the third quarter at 49-60, the Cap Boys mounted a rally to cut the deficit to 5 points in the fourth quarter at 78-83 then sealed the win with a 9-0 windup to turn back the Transporters.

Bert Celis led the champion team with 33 points as Melvin Baclay added 23 including seven triples. Rex Bayer registered 17 markers as he effectively worked alongside Nene Sibaya, Ireneo Morales and Johann Belandres in the defense department during the homestretch.

Gasataya leads shootfest

Advocating for responsible firearm ownership, Bacolod City Rep. Greg Gasataya organized an invitational shooting competition as one of the official event of the MassKara Festival this year.

Dubbed as the 1st Congressman Greg Gasataya Cup Invitational Shooting Competition, the event was held at the Central Negros Shooting Association Range in Santa Fe Resort Saturday.
