Legends rout Youngbloods, 95-75
in SJI Alumni basketball tourney

Peewee Demonteverde sizzled with 35 points as the Legends 1992 & Earlier/2009 registered a 95-75 rout against the Youngbloods 2013-15 in the second playdate of the quarterfinal round of the 7th Msgr. John Liu & Msgr. John Su Basketball Friendship Cup Thursday night at Msgr. John Liu Activity Center.

In the first game, Masskara Chicken Inasal 2010-12 held off Rexidol 93-95/2008 to get away with a 93-81 win.

Masskara and the Legends are playing against each other as of pres stime with the winner advancing to the finals where they will face the victor between Petron 1998-2005 and Hamamoto Truck Sales /AX Currency.

Against the Legends, the Youngbloods squeezed 16 points from Marc Depasucat as they tied with the Legends at 26-all in the first quarter even as Oliver Manaloto and Demonteverde dropped 9 points for the older cagers.

But the advantage, however, was shortlived as Kevin Ramos scored 12 points in the second quarter with teammate Demonteverde adding 6 markers to establish a 48-39 halftime lead for the Legends/2009.

In the second half, Demonteverde continued to be unstoppable as he scattered 20 points while Ramos and Manaloto combined for 19 to secure a ticket to the semifinals.

Axo Yao and Depasucat were the only bright spot for the Youngbloods in the second half with 12 and 8 points, respectively .

Manaloto and Ramos finished with 20 points apiece while ichard Co added 7 points.

Depasucat led the Youngbloods with 21 points , Yao added 15, Thirdy Montinola and Timothy Montinola with scored 8 points.

In the other quarterfinals encounter , Sean Wee scored 9 points to lead Masskara Chicken Inasal to a 25-14 opening quarter advantage.

Allen Dionela and Joshua Co converted several field goals to extend the lead for Masskara at the break, 45-32, even as Christian Castro and Jojo Robello combined for 11 points for Rexidol.

In the third quarter, Zoey Pandan drilled 10 points while Michael Herdon and Alec Arguelles delivered 7 points as the Masskara team posted a commanding 79-54 lead going to the fourth quarter.

A last ditch rally by Rexidol in the fourth quarter, banking on ball movement and balanced offense led by Julius Teruel 7 pts. and Michael Ang allowed the losing team to save face as they outscored Masskara 29-14.

Pandan and Dionela led Masskara with 12 points, while Luigi Coo added 9 and Dan Dan Ong with 6 points.

Rexidol was led by Teruel with 16 points while Michael Ang tallied 12.*
