Bomb threat at UNO-R

A bomb threat hit the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos in Bacolod City, yesterday, that the start of the final examinations for the first semester of this school year.

Chief Insp. Jovil Sedel, Police Station 6 commander, said the security guard of the school received a call at about 11:30 a.m. from a Tagalog-speaking man informing him that there was a bomb in the school.

The second call was received by the guard at about 12:20 p.m. also from a Tagalog-speaking man with a mature voice warning them not to disregard the bomb at the Commerce Building, Sedel said.

The caller said he was a “concerned citizen,” he added.

However, policemen who responded to the scene did not find any suspicious bag or boxes left unattended when they inspected the College of Business and Accountancy building, Sedel said.

He said the incident may be related to the examination week.

Sedel said the students were gathered at the hallway while the police were checking the Commerce Building, but the examinations resumed as soon as the school was declared negative for any bomb or explosive.*SGG
