The fate of the Negros Island Region (NIR) is still hanging on the line.
Secretary Michael Dino, Presidential Assistant for the Visayas, in a statement issued by his office yesterday, said “It looks like NIR will be superseded by federalism. The likelihood of it being abolished is there.”
About P27 million worth of pirated digital video discs (DVDs) were seized by operatives of the national Optical Media Board from the stockrooms of three establishments at the downtown area in Bacolod City, at noon yesterday, Agent Glenn Perez said.
About 163 boxes and six sacks of pirated DVDs were confiscated from the three establishments owned by a Chinese businessman, whose name was not disclosed,Perez said.

‘huge success' - PNP

The Philippine National Police has described the war on drugs by the Police Regional Office 18 in the Negros Island Region in the past 100 days as a “huge success.”
Chief Inspector Dianne Grace Catedral, PRO 18 Public Information Officer, said yesterday that they were able to neutralize numerous high value targets, through arrests and identification of thousands of drug peddlers through the help of surrendered drug personalities.
