House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez said the mass exodus of about 200 Negros Occidental officials to the PDP Laban yesterday will ensure support for the country's shift towards a federal system of government and the President's campaign against illegal drugs.

“Hopefully PDP Laban can also unite political factions in Negros Occidental, we will definitely work for unity,” Alvarez said.

President Rodrigo Duterte is really very happy with the transfer of most Negros Occidental officials to PDP Laban, he is coming to Bacolod tomorrow to be one with the people of Negros, Alvarez said. moremoremore

Duterte apologizes to Jews
BY CARLA GOMEZ

President   Rodrigo Duterte yesterday apologized  to the Jewish nation for likening his war on drugs to Adolf Hitler's extermination of the Jews, and threatened to cancel a Philippines defense accord with the United States.

He is moving towards forging closer ties with China and Russia, Duterte also said, in his speech at the opening of the 37th MassKara Festival at the Bacolod Public Plaza.

Duterte on his return from Vietnam Friday was quoted as saying he would be “happy to slaughter” three million drug addicts in the Philippines by himself in the same way that Hitler had murdered the Jews. moremoremore

Church to replicate wellness
camp for drug dependents
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

The Diocese of San Carlos in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, has its own Wellness Camp program, too, to help in the rehabilitation of drug dependents in its areas.

This was revealed Saturday by Fr. Nadio Nacario, who also said they will do it in tandem with local government units, during the launching of the MASA MASID program of the Department of Interior and Local Government at L' Fisher Hotel in Bacolod City.

Nacario, who represented San Carlos Bishop Jerry Alminaza during the activity with Interior and Local Government Secretary Ismael “Mike” Sueno as guest speaker, said they are now looking into a small community as a pilot area of the Wellness Camp rehab program..
