Gov't tightens security
at tourist sites in south

The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, in tandem with the Philippine Navy and Army infantry units in southern Negros, have started to further tighten security in prime tourist destinations, especially in Sipalay City and neighboring areas.

Lt. Col. Roderick Garcia, 79th Infantry Battalion in southern Negros, reported earlier that documents gathered from the Abu Sayyaf terrorist group showed that it has been gathering physical information about resorts and their locations in Negros Oriental, including pictures of sea crafts used by the tourists, which are essential in their kidnapping operations.

COA orders Tabianan to pay up

The Commission on Audit has ordered the Negros Occidental provincial agriculturist to pay about P299,000 for failing to submit the names of the recipients of fertilizer his office distributed, Acting Provincial Administrator Leonardo Eusebio said yesterday.

Provincial Agriculturist IgmedioTabianan could not be reached for comment.

Eusebio said the Capitol recently received the COA order requiring Tabianan to pay the amount for a 2014 fertilizer case. moremoremore

Filinvest breaks ground for
township dev't project

Real estate developer Filinvest has officially reeled off with its first project in Dumaguete City, with the groundbreaking late Monday of its Marina Town development project.

Tristan Lasmarias, senior vice president and cluster head of Filinvest Land Inc., said this is a dream come true for the company which had eyed investment in Dumaguete City for a long time and now this has come to fruition.
