Four get life for drugs,
on nat'l judgment day
RAPE CONVICT METED 94 YEARS

Four persons were sentenced to life imprisonment for the sale of drugs, while a Bacoleño was meted a 94-year jail term for acts of lasciviousness and two counts of rape.

Their cases were among the 113 ruled on by Regional Trial Court judges in Bacolod City yesterday as part of National Judgment Day.

While there were some who were meted jail terms, others, including a policeman, were also set free following their acquittal. moremoremore

Power rates
slightly down in November

Central Negros Electric Cooperative and the Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative yesterday announced that their power rates for November have dropped.

The Northern Negros Electric Service Cooperative is still computing its rate for November that may also go down, its corporate planning manager Paul Almedilla, said.

The Ceneco residential rate decreased by Php0.1699/kWh; from Php8.5826/kWh in October to Php8.4127 in November, it manager Sulpicio Lagarde Jr. said. . moremoremore

4 meted life sentences

Eighteen detention prisoners who are facing criminal charges were sentenced by Regional Trial Courts in Negros Oriental,yesterday in compliance with Supreme Court  Office of the Court Administrator memorandum circular No. 204-2015 for all courts in the entire country to render judgment.

The National Judgment Day,now on its second year of implementation, was able to decongest the country's crowded jails and expedited the resolution of cases.

Under the Judgment Day program, detainees who have already served the possible prison terms  of their offenses are ordered released even before the court could hand down the decision on their cases.. .
