Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia yesterday said he is working hard to restore business confidence in Bacolod and creating a favorable economic climate in the city in order for business and trade to rapidly grow.

Leonardia underscored this as being part of his three-point agenda under his fresh term, as he addressed the Industry Forum at the Sugarland Hotel in Bacolod yesterday.

NGCP acts on problem
of solar power oversupply

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines is currently implementing ongoing projects to improve power reliability in the eastern part of Negros,and address the oversupply of power brought about by the concentration of solar power plants in the island.

Christian Ereño, NGCP Visayas Systems Planning Division head,said yesterdaythat their ongoing San Carlos-Guihulngan 69 KV project, which will help improve reliability of power in the eastern part of Negros specifically between Cadiz to Amlan, is expected to be completed in June 2017.

Meanwhile, their Cebu-Negros-Panay 230KV Backbone project will be able to accommodate excess solar power to be used by other neighboring islands, Ereño said. moremoremore

Shabu prices up, supply
down in Negros Oriental

The prices of methamphetamine hydrochloride, popularly known as shabu, have gone up while the supply has gone down, in Negros Oriental, as of latest intelligence information.

Philippine National Police acting provincial director, Senior Supt. Henry Biñas, said yesterday this is an indication that the government's campaign against illegal drugs is reaping its benefits in the province.

Latest available information from the PNP Provincial Intelligence Bureau, headed by Senior Supt. Crisaleo Tolentino, has pegged the price of shabu at P10,000 per gram, Biñas said.
