Pope names Buzon
new Bacolod bishop

Pope Francis has accepted the resignation of Bishop Vicente Navarra, 77, and has appointed Kabankalan Bishop Patricio Buzon, 66, to replace him as head of the Diocese of Bacolod, the Vatican announced at 6 p.m. yesterday.

Buzon, who has served as Bishop of Kabankalan for 13 years, told the DAILY STAR he was humbled by his new appointment.

He was informed of his appointment on May 6, but it was only officially announced by the Vatican yesterday, Buzon said. moremoremore

About 2,015 Negrenses will stop whatever they are doing at 9 a.m. today, and lift a prayer to help send off Leni Robredo's Legal Team to the Congressional Canvas, the Leni Robredo 4 Vice President - Negros Group said on its Facebook page.

It was only at 10:30 a.m. yesterday when the group received a text message that a send-off Mass will be held at Quezon City 9 a.m. today, it said.

Marcos to get hero's burial

In a privilege speech before the Senate yesterday, Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr., reiterated his strong reservations on the canvassing of the results of the vice presidential elections, on the basis of what he claimed were electoral irregularities.

He said netizens were able to capture footage and other evidence of cheating from different parts of the archipelago, citing among others SD ( secure digital ) memory cards found in a garbage dump in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.

City Election Officer Revo Sorbito had said earlier that all the SD cards of the Commission on Elections in Kabakalan City are accounted for, after three of them inadvertently ended up in the garbage.
